On the Buda side of Budapest, on the slope and the top of the hills, there are several family-run pensions and hotels. They offer a calm environment, fresh air and birds singing in the morning from early spring onward. The city center is about 20-25 minutes away from these pensions and hotels, accessible by both public transportation and taxi.The best of such places is Pension Helios on the Sváb-Hill, which has a beautiful garden, and its rooms are very clean and well-equipped. The Váci street pedestrian area is accessible by bus #8, which runs quiet frequently during the day and reaches the city center in ca. 15 minutes. Also on the Sváb-Hill, not far from Pension Helios, you'll find Hotel Budai. From this hotel, you have to walk down the hill to either tram #59 (takes you to Moszkva square in ca. 15 minutes) or bus #8 (to Váci street in ca. 12. minutes). If you are coming from the city center to Hotel Budai, be prepared to walk uphill for 1500 meters (signs showing the way, easy to find the hotel).
Pension Mix and Hotel Korda Villa are located on the Rózsadomb (Rose-Hill), ca. 25 minutes away from the city center. You have to take bus nr. #11 to Batthányi square and then the metro for 2 stops to Deák square to get to the city center. Hotel Korda Villa ha a wonderful view of the city, as it is located very close to the top of the mountain.
