Those foreigners and domestic visitors, who travel to Budapest by train, often wish to stay at a hotel or pension which is very close to the railway station. The Southern Railway Station (Déli Pályaudvar) is located on the Buda side in the 1st district. On the Pest side, you'll find the Western Railway Station (Nyugati Pályaudvar) in the 6th district, and the Eastern Railway Station (Keleti Pályaudvar) in the 8th district. All three stations are located very close to the city center, and with the excellent public transportation system of Budapest, it is very easy to get to the pedestrian area and the tourist sites. The hotels below are not only suitable for those coming for a day only, but also for those who wish to stay several nights in Budapest and be near their railway station. The Western Railway Station (Nyugati Pályaudvar) is a station along Subway #3 and the non-stop main tram line, #4-6, located at the crossing of Váci street and Teréz avenue. In the immediate neighborhood of the station, you'll find one of the largest shopping centers of Budapest, the West End City Center. The hotels below can be reached from the station easily on foot: Hotel Metro** is located in Kádár street, the first crossing street of Váci street, 2 minutes from the station. This place is recommended for those who are looking for something cheap. City Hotel Ring*** is a mediocre hotel along the avenue in the direction of the Danube, about a 3-4 minute walk away from the station. Hotel Radison SAS Beke is a superior 4 star hotel located along the avenue in the other direction, towards the inner city. This hotel offers high-quality accommodation, with 239 rooms, 8 suites and conference rooms. The Eastern Railway Station (Keleti Pályaudvar) is one of the busiest stations and a true international railway station, along Subway line #2 at Baross square. There are 3 hotels right by the station: Hotel Golden Park**** is a 4 star hotel with 172 rooms. Just across the square, you'll find Hotel Baross*** with 29 rooms. 150 meters towards the city center, you'll find Grand Hotel Hungaria****, the largest hotel in Budapest with 453 rooms, apartments, suites and conference rooms. The Southern Railway Station (Déli Pályaudvar) is located at the border of the 1st and 12th districts, by Alkotás road and Krisztina avenue, Subway line #2. There are no hotels immediately by the station, but Pension Buro*** is located a tram stop away only, at Moszkva square (take any of the trams, buses or the subway). On foot, it's about 15 minutes away, but it's not a nice walk to Moszkva square, this road is about heavy traffic. Behind the pension, you'll find the Mammut Shopping Center, and this is where the non-stop tram 4-6 runs. Hotel Bara***, Hotel Charles*** and Hotel Mediterran**** are all located 4 trams stops away from the railway station. Take tram #61 in the direction of Móricz Zsigmond square and get off at Hegyalja street - BAH cross. Hotel Mediterran is located right in the tram stop, while Hotel Bara and Hotel Charles are located towards the river and the city center. | ||||||||||
